Host With the Most Style

...I need your help actually, coz I'll be attending a debut it's a dinner-dance party, and I'll be the host. I really can't think of anything to wear, I am overweight, hehe..normal height. I want to wear a dress that would emphasize my waist, coz it's the smallest part of my body..hihi..hope you can help me.. - CJ

Hi CJ! First of all, never say you're overweight like you have to apologize for it! You are perfect the way you are! =) You're on the right track though when you said that you want to emphasize your waist. Regardless of body type, its always a must to accentuate your assets. And by golly, if you've got a tiny waist, then flaunt it! Here are some dresses that would show off your figure. As Vogue editrix Anna Wintour said in an interview for The Houston Chronicle "Size is not something you should disguise; you should celebrate it."

I've always been a fan of kimono dresses because it flattering for all figures. The loose kimono sleeves, though it hides the arms, are graceful and feminine enough. The v-neck draws the attention downwards to the waist, while the band or gathering accentuates the waist, if not creates an illusion of it.

If you want to look dressier, choose a style made of satin or silk. Lace is very ladylike and subtly sexy too...
Wrap dresses are another fave of mine! The v-neck and the sash never fail to play up the waist. You can wear it in print for that added oomph...

Or you can wear one in a solid color and just wear animal print pumps to spice it up!

Now if you want to look sweet, then this polka dot number will do the trick!

But if you want a bit of funkiness, then this dress with fluttery sleeves and a leopard print belt is just the answer!

If you are not afraid of color, then choose a solid print dress and pair it with a wide belt in a contrasting color! Sassy huh?

If the occasion calls for more formal dressing, then here are some pretty picks! Notice that a band or sash is always used to play up the waist! This time in shiny satin or glittering sequins!

Who says only models and skinny girls have the monopoly when it comes to dressing up and bringing the house down! Wow them with your hosting skills and show them there's more to the girl in the great dress! It's who you are and not what you wear (although it always helps a lot!) that really matters after all!
