Meltdown Moment

Can I just do a Britney and get a little bit loopy?

See, today marks the day that I vow not to buy anything related to fashion, be it clothes, shoes, bags, accessories, even books. That is, until I have a "real" job. I mean, I sort of do, I'm a blogger gosh darn it! But well, with major life plans for the next couple years (I'll tell you all about it soon enough!), my source of delight, my pick-me-upper will just have to take a backseat. Funds have to go straight to the bank beginning today. DH made it clear to me and I have to agree it really is the smart & sensible way to make sure that we could afford our goals without seeking parental support.

Honestly, I don't know how I'm going to do this. Is there a shopping rehab clinic out there? But jeez, that'll cost us if there was right? I feel like a bucket of cold water was poured over me, and all flighty thoughts have flown away. I hope this won't make me shriveled up and cranky, because shopping is the flame that lights up my being when I'm feeling dark and gloomy! I never turned to alcohol and drugs or slashed my wrists at my lowest points because family, friends and shopping were there for me!

Is this normal? To feel depressed when told that shopping is a no-no? I feel like crying honestly, and well I'm just pouring it all out to you since were all friends here right? I mean, it's not always gonna be good stuff, through thick and thin as they say. Am I boring you? I hope not, I need your moral support...although financial would be helpful, hehehe!

I beckon the Universe to make all our plans possible. With shopping allowance please (whether it be through income generating work or winning the lottery, or hey even both! That's not too much to ask)!!!

On a lighter note, a reader said the last outfit I shared with you was drab. Well, I have to admit, I am a shy person, so I don't have a thing for colors that draw unwanted attention. I like things understated, but of good quality. And I don't mind cheap, if were talking trendy. But I like it when people shake me out, because it gets me looking at things from a different perspective. So here's an attempt at adding color to my wardrobe...

What do you all think? Bring it on! =)

You are not going crazy, and you are definetely not alone. :) shopping can truly be a valid form of therapy. if your DH told you that, then you can just imagine that my BF told me that i have to limit the number of shops that i have to visit when i go to the mall, like i can only visit 8 shops when we go on a date at a mall. cause he can't take my window shopping habits and my amazing skills in locating sales! hay. i think it truly is a gift and a curse. why not try being a personal shopper? shopping for other people still gives you a certain "fix". :) good luck!

awww... poor tin! but don't worry, life has a way of making things work. sacrificing now may mean greater things in the future...(hermes in ostrich??? we can only hope!)

oh, i can relate. cut down shopping too until hubby and i have recovered from wedding expenses.

hi there, just a bit of advice... i think it's unhealthy to just erase something from your life overnight, even if it's just something like shopping, because if it means so much to you, it occupies a space in your life that you'll inevitably miss if it disappeared just like that (snaps fingers). just like with any junkie, cold turkey is never the way to go. i suggest going with a monthly budget, allow yourself a small space with which to indulge, and stick to it. just agree on a comfortable amount and in the end, i think you and your husband will be happier. compromise, compromise, compromise :) and, relax, rome wasn't built in a day. having a shopping budget isn't going to derail your grand plans as a couple :)

Oh..and before I forget, I totally, totally feel you, girl! Putting a ban on shopping is like telling us not to breathe! I, too, made a self-imposed ban on shopping! Darn! But Spring fashion is too beautiful to resist!
You're not alone... hang in there...I'm sure the Universe is listening...

I totally feel for ur situation, CD!

Well my advice is try gathering advertisers for your blog haha. Try Google Adsense. That would help somehow.

But seriously, I can't imagine life sans fashion. It would be the death of me. Or just get a fashion job! hehe. I think u'll really enjoy it. Best of luck!!!

I feel for you. Its the first thing that went out the window for me when we moved here. Just don't forget your sense of style. You can do without the name brands, but with your fashion sense, you could possibly put together a fabulous outfit from Goodwill garb... Don't go shopping there ha!

Anyway, last year, I came to the realization that I had given myself up too much, being a wife and mom to 2 kids under 6 and had to climb out of it. Now my motto is... Don't Be Losyang! (taken from some of my old HS classmates). You can do it! I am sure what is coming up next will be truly worth it.

Take care!

if you can't go shopping until you get a 'real job'then why not get a job already? If you can't work yet then i recommend volunteering your time to a worthy cause.

I thought that I wont be able to last not being able to go shopping but I actually survived on a semi-shopping hiatus. Semi because I still had to buy the essentials to keep me warm. But the others I have actually been good. My mantra each time I felt like buying something was "fix closet and find space for it first". It actually worked =).

I like the 2nd outfit too and I agree a brighter pair of tights ^-^

i like the shorts, but i hate the fact that you wore a lacoste golf shirt with. the color itself is bad.
