A Homecooked Meal for Valentine's Day

Dear Hubby and I aren't really into Valentine's Day, we sort of find it a bit cheesy and commercial, besides, everyday is Valentine's Day for us! Heehee!

Anyway, he still asked me if I wanted to eat out, and I told him I would rather prepare our Valentine's Day meal. A lovingly prepared homecooked meal beats out a fancy feast at Le Bernardin in my opinion! A whole lot cheaper too! Mwahaha!

I did my grocery shopping after lunch, so that everything I served for dinner would still be "fresh". Here's what I whipped up for V Day!

Salad: Mix of Romaine & Red Leaf Lettuce with Parmesan & Sharp Cheddar Cheese, Balsamic Vinaigrette Dressing
Soup: Lobster Bisque
Entree: Angus Beef Steak
Side Dishes: Baked Potato with Hot Pepper Jack cheese and sour cream, corn & carrots, italian bread roll
Dessert: Chewy Walnut Brownies

Yummy no? Best of all, Dear Hubby loved everything I served! =)

Forgive the table setting, DH likes to eat his soup with his meal, and he doesn't want to be bothered with bread plates (additional dishes to wash...) I know it's not exactly a culinary feat, but considering that I never cooked my whole life prior to going here, it's a pretty big deal don't you think? As my friend Cons would say, "Snaps for Tintin!", hahaha!

yum!

yeah! home meade is definitely better. The moment I learned how to cook (thanks to Jamie Oliver and Nigella Lawson), I often find myself in a certain situation which is complaining and you just wouldn't enjoy the food that much like u used to at ur usual restos or greasy spoons.

And thing is you won't "make tipid" the ingredients when it's home made. Such, is often the case in restaurants or food chains here in Manila. haha

Very true Gian! And since we pick the ingredients ourselves, we have control of what goes into our meal! Hehehe!

hey tintin! We also just ate in. Of course it was my boyfriend that cooked... the steak wasn't as good though but at least he made the effort. haha.

We hate the commercialism of valentines. :) and traffic sucks!

You're funny Mira! Hahaha! Yeah, it's the effort that counts naman, and just tell your boyfriend that practice makes perfect! I overcooked my first steak and it was rubbery I swear! But I researched and asked around for tips, so my second try was perfect na! This is my third attempt and I can say I nailed it na talaga =)

Thanks poster girl!!! =)

Hi Belle! Still shopping ha! Hehehe! I suggest you get a 1/2 size smaller (if you're a 6, get the 5.5). I got my regular size and I think I should have gotten a smaller size bec the elastic at the back expands. Hey, try calling the Tory Burch outlet store at Woodbury, (845) 928-2886 because my friend told me the Reva flats are currently on sale! Maybe they can ship to you!
