Makati Ink

Last month, I accompanied my friend Ruby, who had her tattoo done at P&P, which we codenamed Makati Ink, hehehe!

If you are thinking about getting a tattoo, with Ruby's help, let us share with you what happens when you've decided to get one!

STEP 1: Decide on your design. If you haven't figured out what you want yet, there are "resource materials" on hand to help you out...

STEP 2: Once you've committed to the image that calls out your name, the artist makes a sketch/stencil of your chosen design...

STEP 3: Prep your bare skin, and get a glimpse of the rainbow of colors you will choose from...

STEP 4: Some sort of balm is applied on the skin. The balm resembles a deodorant stick, the clear kind and I suppose it's meant to either make the stencil stick or protect the skin from the needle, or both. Hey, who knows, I wasn't really paying attention hehehe...

Because I was distracted by these...

A wall full of sneakers for sale...

Belt buckles and other interesting paraphernalia, also for sale...

Oh, and an XBox! I think you can play with this while waiting for your turn or something...

STEP 5: Stencil time!

Now get ready to plop onto this sturdy bed.

STEP 6: Tattoo guy works his magic...

STEP 7: Tadaa! Your tattoo gets bandaged for good measure! It was so quick I think we were in there for only 30 minutes, and most of that time was spent prepping for the tattoo! Ruby paid less than P1500 for her three little stars if I remember right! Not bad huh?

Oh, and if tattoos are not your thing, then maybe body piercing is more up your alley? They do that there too!

P&P is located at 45 Polaris St. Bel-Air Soho Condominium Makati City.

Hey Raissa!

No, it's not painful at all! Promise! I want a hummingbird for my next tat but I still can't decide on where to put it. I want to be able to appreciate the work of art eh - you know, occasionally look at it... touch it... :D

What do you plan to get?

LOL I am not sure but its been a recurring thought. But it seems I am more scared of the family's reaction than the pain LOL I have been told that its not in me to get one. well..and IF I am getting one its going to be small, smaller than Ruby's. Think...think..think...

Hi Tin! Can you give me the contact number for this place? I'm planning to get a tattoo and a belly ring when i come home for vacation and I'm not so familiar with the area. Or baka may alam ka pa na ibang places where i can have these things done?

Thank you!

Hi Ella! I will look for their card, but in the meantime, here's the number I saw on the web: 09295585051 =) That's the only tattoo place I've been to actually, hehe!

If any of you dear readers know of any tattoo place, feel free to share! =)

Hello Ruby! Its the family reaction that I am more scared of. LOL even for someone my age. Double ear piercing is a no-no to my Lola but my cousins (younger) have done it but when its time to visit lola they take the 2nd earring out. Imagine what a tattoo will do. I guess thats why I want it, IF ever something small and hidden.

It varies - a star, a heart, a flower all small scales. But now for some strange reason or maybe because I am so far away, I want the sun and stars from the Philippine flag LOL but that can change. My cousin, Mikey wants one too after getting a henna tattoo on his first trip to Boracay. He said he will go back to Manila to get his tattoo LOL

Thanks! I will think long and deep about it. =)

Hey Raissa! Yes, I understand completely. Family reactions are really tough! But I guess, a small one on the hip area would be good.. like an outline of a star, kinda superimposed on a nice sun (not the usual kind of sun drawing that you see in tat books)... i lean towards stylized-type of figure para mas unique.. good luck!

Hi Ella! There is supposed to be another good artist by the name of Ricky Sta. Ana but he's in Cartimar. But I've never been there... hope this helps...
