My Secret Weapon for Stains: Grandma's Secret Spot Remover

While browsing the aisles of Buy Buy Baby on 7th Avenue in Chelsea a couple of years ago, my friend Sarj & I happened upon Grandma's Secret Spot Remover.

This was actually an impulse buy, I saw Grandma's Secret Spot Remover by the cash register. I picked up a bottle and read how "a drop could remove: Oil, Grease, Paint, Make-up, Grass, Clay, Inks, Blood, Baby Formula, Tar, Spaghetti Stains, Coffee, Rust, Betadine, Turmeric, Fabric Bleed, Pet Stains...most any kind of STAIN. It works!"

I became over enthusiastic, telling Sarj, "OMG! Nakakatanggal ng dugo!" (It can remove blood!), that the cashier, who happened to be Filipina, looked at me funny, and probably  thought I was a killer. Hahaha. Then I told her, I bet this works on anything, because blood stains are hard to remove. She said she uses it herself and it does work! So I bought a bottle and  since then, I've bought so many bottles not just for our use, but for my parents too.  Really, I can't live without this, that I have one in Berry's diaper bag, another in the toilet, and yet another in our laundry area. I love it so much that I spoke to the owner of Grandma's, and asked if I could bring his product to the Philippines. Fortunately for all of us, he said yes, and now, the product is available for purchase!

To see is to believe, so let me share how this really works on everything! Promise! It can even remove months old stains!

Ok, girls, you know "those days" right? This is oversharing at it's finest, but I just had to show you how Grandma's can remove period stains from your sheets, and that means yes, your unmentionables, even your favorite pair of pants.

If you like eating fried, oily food but don't know how to deal with the mess it leaves after, just dab the oily spot with Grandma's and it'll disappear just like that. I used to do all sorts of things to get rid of grease stains, like ironing over it, then using warm water to dissolve the oils, but with Grandma's it's just one easy step.

What a story! Berry drew a long line on our heavy curtain using a black Pilot sign pen, which left us worried about our dry cleaning bill. But before taking the curtains down, I thought of treating the stain with Grandma's. True enough, before I could even take a picture of the ink stain, it pretty much dissolved already! After carefully dabbing the ink stain with water and tissues, it totally disappeared. When the curtain dried, it looked as good as new. Saved us about $150 on dry cleaning, I swear!

You know how the boys come home with collar rings on their shirts? I know it's easy to not even bother scrubbing it out, especially since they pretty much stay hidden anyway. But I find it unsightly to see brown rings on Dear Hubby's office shirts so I treat it with Grandma's. It's not enough that his shirts look crisp. They need to look fresh and clean too.

This was actually a 3 month old stain on at favorite dress that I totally forgot about. Just when I was about to bring it to the dry cleaners after months of neglect, I noticed that it had a stain from tomato sauce. I was thinking 3 months was too long and the stain must have seeped into the fibers, but I had too little faith. With just a dab of Grandma's the stain disappeared.

This dress happened to be dry clean only too (51% silk, 25% cotton, 24% linen) but of course, Grandma's worked like a charm and did no harm. If I could count the amount of money I saved on clothes I've salvaged from nasty stains, potential bleach catastrophes and dry cleaning bills, this is really the sort of stain remover worth spending on.

A 2 oz. bottle retails for Php 295 and this lasts anywhere from 6 months to a year, depending on how often you use it. It has saved me a lot on dry cleaning expenses and has breathed new life into clothes I would have just thrown away because of horrible stains.

What's best, these are SAFE to use on BABY clothes. Berry is a stain magnet so you can just imagine how much of a lifesaver this is! Grandma's Secret Spot Remover is made in the USA and is:

- contains No Chlorine

Wrinkle remover is a wonder too. I used it for cotton drapes that I ironed, but showed wrinkle marks, one spray and it was all gone :) It's also best used when travelling.

Another cheap remedy for difficult stains is hydrogen peroxide. Cheap and easy to find.

cd_mfo said...

Yay! Thanks Marie! Yes, please share how it works for you! =)

Hi Anon, trust me, I've tried hydrogen peroxide. It doesn't always work, and if it does, not as fast as Grandma's.
