Pierre Hardy Minds The Gap

This is fantastic news! Here's the report from Dolly Jones for Vogue UK:

BIRDS do it, bees do it, even educated fleas do it.... And now Gap has gone and fallen in love with Pierre Hardy. The elegant Frenchman, who has previously designed one-off pieces for La Redoute, has agreed to design a capsule collection for the American high street chain's autumn/winter shelves - with a more extensive offering expected for spring/summer 2008. "As we launch our European collections in Gap stores for the first time, we are delighted to have the opportunity to build on successful past collaborations with a world class talent like Pierre Hardy and to offer his interpretation of Gap's casual aesthetic to our customers," Stephen Sunnucks, president of Gap Europe, said today. Roland Mouret was the last high fashion name to set his talents to Gap and, since his dresses sold out a rate of 500-per-hour, it's not surprising that the company has gone for another name from the upper style echelons. So who is next? "Nothing has been announced but we'll never say never," a Gap spokeswoman told us. (September 4 2007, PM)
