Sharing My Outfit Day: Snow!

When we left JFK for YVR last December 19, there was a raging snowstorm outside that caused horrendous flight delays. We were supposed to fly out at 9:45 PM but we ended up leaving at about 1:20 AM! Ugh!

I thought we would be escaping a harsh and bitter winter holiday by leaving the East Coast. True, we found ourselves welcomed into DIL and MILs warm embrace, but also a harsher, more bitter Siberian winter in Vancouver! Wah!

Outfit wise, I came prepared for a wind chill of -15°C and 12 inches of snow (this was early in the day, and snow was just starting to fall!)

Hat: H&M, Puffer jacket: James Perse, Scarf: Missoni, Jeans: J Brand, Bag: Balenciaga, Boots: Lanvin (Heehee! Yes! I finally got the black ones I've always wanted!!! Thanks KU-S for your email and MMA for being my partner in crime, although we got busted! Dear Hubby noticed it was a different, brand new pair! Good thing he just laughed at our lame attempt of a covert shopping operation!)

The following day (Heehee, yes same outfit, different tights, undershirts and unmentionables! Hey, I travel light!) I got a hair cut from "The Butcher" (a stocky, manly Taiwanese hair stylist with chubby hands who can do wonders with a razor and scissors hence he was baptized "The Butcher" by MIL and SsIL). With the sun out and shining, and with more than a feet of snow to play with, I couldn't resist packing a mean snowball!

Just when I thought I got a good one, I saw a HUGE chunk...

...that I couldn't resist flinging...

...at hapless, unsuspecting Dear Hubby...

Who only wanted to take a nice picture of me playing in the snow! Sorry Hon! It was just begging to be thrown at you! At least you got a good shot out of it! Hahaha!

Best of all, at the end of a cold cold day out, we got to enjoy dinner at my favorite Korean resto of all time! Jang Mo Jib! Where we feasted on Gahl Bee, Jab Che, Haemool Pah Jun, Gam Ja Tahng and bottomless kimchi! Woohoo!

Little One in my belly seemed to enjoy the meal as well. We did not barf or get nauseated inside the smoky restaurant at all. To us, this is a Happy Meal. Thank you Angkong and Amah for Little One's first taste of Jang Mo Jib!

Root a Toot Toot for Rootote!

If there's one thing I've realized, one can never have too many tote bags the same way a girl can never have too many shoes! I have tons of tote bags that I received as gifts from friends, totes that served as goody bags from events, exhibitions or runway shows, and totes that I just buy for the heck of it because they're cute! And yes, I keep them all! Some are plain, some are printed, some are made of a thin cotton cloth, others made out of sturdy canvas, and there's always a tote bag to suit every occasion! Well fine, not formal occasions, but you get my drift.

I suppose I am not alone in my sentiments towards tote bags. Some have brought their passion for totes to an extreme. Enter Joni and her cousin who brought in ROOTOTE bags! When Joni bought 3 ROOTOTE bags in Japan over the summer, she loved them so much that she partnered with her cousin and decided to bring them to Manila! And it might as well gain a cult following in Manila the way it has in Japan, Australia, China, Singapore and Malaysia!

Unlike other totes where you'd have to spend a good hour or so looking for your stuff in its deepest recesses (ok fine, that's an exaggeration haha!), it has a convenient ROO-POCKET on the inner side! So you've got your stuff organized inside! Pretty neat actually!

ROOTOTE bags are priced from Php1250 to Php1550 and are available online through their Multiply site and at the following Bratpack stores - Greenbelt 5, Robinsons Galleria, Robinsons Ermita and The Block.

Sharing My Outfit Day: At 3.5 Months

If you've been wondering why I haven't been posting my outfits lately, it's just that I haven't really been going out the past couple of months unless it was absolutely absolutely necessary. You see, I've been so tired, nauseated and in a generally barf-y mood the last several weeks because I've been busy growing a baby!!! Yes!!! Dear Hubby and I are going to be parents by next year!

Now that the first trimester is almost over, I've regained my appetite and can now venture out in search of food or whatever it is that I feel like eating without relying on Dear Hubby to do the hunting and gathering for me! Hahaha! So yesterday, after running some errands, I made a pit stop to Whole Foods for Indian food! Indian food at Whole Foods? You'd be surprised! I think its pretty good, given that they've toned down the spiciness and made it pregnancy-friendly (spicy and oily foods are a no-no, unless I didn't mind suffering from heartburn) hehe!

So yeah, now that I'm up and about again, I can go back to chronicling my outfits, and let's see if my style changes as our little one gets bigger and bigger inside my tummy! Exciting times! So this is me at 3.5 months...

Shirt: Mango (from 2 years ago! It's still alive!)
Scarf: Isabel Marant
Hoodie: Lululemon
Jeans: J Brand
Boots: Golden Goose

I can foresee some of you might be asking me for a close up of my boots, so here goes! =)

A lot of my friends who are pregnant or have been pregnant have warned me that their shoe size grew from 1/2 an inch to even an inch and a half! Goodness gracious! 1/2 an inch I can handle, but more than that is threatening. Although I have 2 friends who said their shoe size did not grow at all! Hopefully I fall into the latter category! My shoe collection is in perilous territory! (How shallow! I know!) But hey, you know what, I'd give up anything for the little bundle of joy that's safely nestled in my tummy!

Chocolate schu Bar Now Open!

If you love shoes, then check out Chocolate schu Bar opening this weekend!

Consider Chocolate schu Bar as the high-end line of schu. Because Rockwell wanted a different concept, Ruby Gan thought of showcasing more of the "signature" line for this shop, thus the name. So yes, it has nothing to do with chocolate, but the shoes are just as delectable!

Think all-leather shoes - from fashion forward sandals to classic pumps and trendy booties! The line is more expensive than the schu we've come to love, but still less expensive than say, Aldo or Nine West.

Chocolate schu Bar is located at the 2/F of Power Plant Mall, Rockwell, right beside Carbon.

G&D Holiday Collection

G&D is known for its affordably-priced luxe-casual drapey tops, flattering tunics, jersey dresses, and slouchy sweaters made out of cotton, jersey, chiffon, and a variety of knits. (They also have tailored shorts and pants, as well as basic leggings!)

While its color palette focuses mainly on subdued hues of gray, navy, mocha, chocolate, nude, and classic black; each collection is punctuated by a few selected seasonal colors. For this holiday season, G&D guarantees you'll stand out in delicious jewel tones such as cobalt, amethyst, jade, and other rich hues. Pieces from the collection will still be very wearable, and can easily transition from day to evening wear, but each will have a subtle statement or interesting detail.

Once you're at it, might as well check out G&D's new jewelry collection (some of the pieces remind me of jewelry from Kenneth Jay Lane and Anthropologie)! Think cocktail rings, cuff bracelets and bangles, and charm necklaces that are not only the perfect accent to your holiday outfits, but also make great Christmas gifts!

And why not, when all items (clothing and jewelry) range from just P695 to P1295!

G&D is available at The Ramp Glorietta. Selected styles also available at Backstage in Serendra.

Also watch out for G&D's opening at The Ramp Shangri-la on January 2, 2008.
