Bitchfest

Fashionistas have a reputation for being bitches. Some people make fun out of it saying its because they don't eat enough food and thus, "mainitin ang ulo". Well, ok, that's just my mom's theory. Hahaha!

I don't know if its the time of month or because I have not been eating real food lately, but I've been on a major bitchfest the past couple days. Sige na nga, past couple weeks! And the typical target of my tirades as usual are the feeling types! I don't know why but if I had to state a major pet peeve, that would be it! I mean, whatever happened to keeping it real?

Target #1: NO MORE HATE - Let's just think happy thoughts shall we? Everyone is entitled to feel good about themselves.

Target #2: NO MORE HATE - Practice patience, heal the world with love...

Target #3: NO MORE HATE - I will understand the unenlightened and pray for them.

Sorry for the negative vibes! But I hope ranting on like this will finally drive out these demons in my system. Hahaha!

UPDATE: Ranting has done wonderfully to let off steam. But hate begets hate so I've decided to flush out the negativity and keep this blog a happy place full of nice, beautiful things to dream of and covet!

Marni

If you want to look quirky cool, then Marni is perfect for you! This is for the girl who doesn't want to look like a cookie cutter image of every "Girl-who-wants-to-look-like-an-It girl", because "She's-got-her-own-style", baby!

I've said this before but I'll say this again, its all about the accessories here at Marni. Her tights partially expose the feet, her belts this season are garisson belts, but with an expensive quality to it, her shoes are fantastic, and the necklaces are fun and artsy!!! Put these together with the stunningly simple clothes, and you've got a winning look right there!

Death of the Skinny Girls?

"When it rains, it pours" should best describe Jennifer Hudson's career right now. After winning a Golden Globe and a Screen Actors Guild award for "Best Supporting Actress" for her role in Dreamgirls, she got an Oscar nomination to boot! Now, she's zoomed past Beyonce and made it to the cover of the March issue of Vogue, a feat considering that she is the first African-American singer to do so! And as if to break all records, she is the first "full-figured" woman to grace the coveted cover of all covers!

Does this mean Vogue is now willing to forego skinny actresses and models for "real women"? Maybe if this issue sells out and sales figures show the MIS folks at Vogue that women of the world have seen enough of the skinnies!

I'm Marrying a Black Eyed Pea

My Dear Fiance once asked me how come I never write about him here in my blog. I told him, "But I've mentioned you a couple of times Hon!". Well, apparently, a cameo in my blog was not enough for him. He wanted a posting starring him! Yes, even if this is a fashion blog! But because my Honey is such a sweetie and is a reformed "bad boy*" I dedicate this post to him!

*(He was once so against my obsession with Lacoste Canicule rib polo shirts until one day, out of the blue, he said "Okay lang naman mag shopping ka eh, basta classics yung bibilhin mo, like yung mga Lacoste mo." Awww, I was so proud of him that very moment. Another time, when Havaianas first came out the market, he was shocked to find out that rubber slippers could cost that much. While I was buying a pair, he looked troubled and was giving me bad looks, but I could not be dissuaded. I went ahead and bought it. As I explained that these were no ordinary slippers, that it came from Brazil and that the rubber was very soft, he said "Magdadala ako ng Spartan sa Brazil, ibebenta ko dun ng ganyan ka-mahal din!". A couple of months later, he was like a major proponent of Havaianas and thought that it would make a perfect gift for our sisters and moms!)

See, in spite of his initial resistance, my Honey has turned out to be an open minded and supportive partner in my shopping endeavors!

So here's to you Honey! Because fashionistas like me end up marrying rock stars or pop stars, what can I say, we really do make a perfect pair! I'm proud to announce to everyone I'm marrying a Black Eyed Pea!!!

Gucci

I just love Gucci! But I couldn't help but remember The Aviator and Kara Saun in this particular collection...didn't Michael Kors make a comment during the season ender on how her designs reminded him of Gucci, especially with the horsebits she used?

With the leather and furs especially...

Bottega Veneta

These 2 were all I liked.

And its not even because of the dress, but the necklaces piled on! Gorgeous!

Good thing. I'd rather aspire for the bags!!!

Etro

Remember, its pronounced "ay-tro"!

Now on to the good stuff! Let me tell you a story:

Once upon a time, there was a little rich girl who loved books above all things. Because Daddy made loads of money in finance, shipping and real estate, she could do as she pleased. But instead of partying with Mother's friends' kids, she would wrap her cashmere blanket around her tiny shoulders and lose herself in Daddy's vast library. She knew deep in her heart that all she wanted was to be a librarian and be surrounded by books. Good thing Mother was good friends with Nan Kempner and Mica Ertegun, who would pop in constantly to buss her cheek. It also helped that older sister Byrdie had loads of Vogue magazines from all over the world piled on what used to be Empress Josephine's gilded armchair...

Veronica Etro's designs inspired me to write a story about the sort of woman who would wear her clothes: a librarian, the classy, sensual, stylish type if there ever was one!

Alberta Ferretti

You know I love Alberta Ferretti. Let her clothes explain why:

The cropped jackets are very Jackie O:

The dresses are amazing:

The slim pants are very Audrey H:

Her coats are simply gorgeous!!!

And I just love a ribbon neck top!

Burberry Prorsum

Christopher Bailey continues Burberry's tradition of innovation and design excellence, and takes the brand charging forward like the Equestrian Knight that is their trademark.

This quintessentially British brand, well known for its classic trench coat with the distinctive plaid inner lining, has gone edgy for A/W 2007-2008.

For sure, the young and the hip will find great objects of desire from this collection!
