Food for Thought

The new mindset in luxury is about restraint and awareness. Conspicuous consumption is totally tacky, not to mention, insensitive and irresponsible.

Some words to chew on from the Winter 2008 Style & Design supplement to TIME:

"Excessive shopping is out. There is way too much going on in the world right now to have to take the time to think about clothes."
- Julie Gilhart, fashion director, Barneys New York

"To be healthy. It is the biggest luxury in life. And then to have your family around your and to have a job you like is fantastic." - Patrick Demarchelier, when asked, "What is your greatest luxury?"

Don't talk to me about LUXURY.
O.K.. you can. But forget it.
You must know
That the only
Real luxury
is TIME.
TIME
and a
cup of tea.
And a PEAR.
OR and APPLE.
Maybe
a little
CAKE.
THAT is ENOUGH.
