Samsung I Imagine

Many of us express ourselves and project our dreams via writing, singing, dancing, playing sports or dressing up. Sensing a need for young Filipinos to shout-out their passions and inspire others in the process, Samsung and Folded & Hung collaborated in providing a platform for the Filipino youth to be heard via an online contest dubbed Samsung I Imagine.



The online contest received 10,000 entries from students aged 15 to 25 who registered and posted their shout-outs on three categories: Talk, Play, and Love. Out of all these entries, three winners emerged:

On TALK, Isabella Martinez from University of Sto. Tomas (UST) won with her shout-out, “I imagine and I will make it happen.”

On PLAY, Guillermo II Francisco also from University of Sto. Tomas (UST) won with his shout-out “I Imagine our generation united in one beat.”

On LOVE, Phili Jacinth Dayupay from Rizal Technology University bagged the prize with his shout-out “I Imagine total peace in 3, 2, 1”.

As if bringing pride to their family & schools weren't enough, the three winners inspirational shout-outs were also printed on Folded and Hung hoodies, sold in Folded and Hung stores (Mall of Asia, Robinson’s Place Galleria, Unimart, SM San Lazaro, Southmall, Market Market, Shangri-La Plaza, Robinson’s Place Ermita, SM Megamall, Trinoma, Glorietta 2, Eastwood Mall, SM North The Block, and Alabang Town Center) beginning this January 2010, proceeds of which will be donated to Samsung Hope which sends kids to school.

Aside having their shout-outs proclaimed via Folded and Hung hoodies, the winners also got to take home exciting prizes:

- P30,000 cash
- the Samsung Corby mobile phone
- Samsung ST500 Dual LCD Camera
- Samsung CLP-315 printer
- Samsung LapFit LD190G TV
- 5 Samsung “I Imagine” hoodies to keep or giveaway
- P10,000 worth of gift certificates from Folded & Hung.
- The winners schools get a Samsung LCD TV

Incidentally, the announcement of winners was accompanied by a fashion show of Folded & Hung's Holiday 2009, Heroes Shout-out and Summer 2010 collections and a photography exhibition by Ronnie Salvacion.

For me, out of all the shout-outs from the photography exhibition, this one by Riki Flores of UP stood out easily:

“I Imagine public service for the greater good of the people and not for the greater good of the ego.”


Something to think about when we choose our leaders come May 2010. Leaders with a sincere desire to wipe out corruption, provide quality education and public services, and look out for the welfare and betterment of their constituents shouldn't rest in our imaginations.
