Bally Women’s Spring/Summer 2010 Collection

All I can say is, this isn't the Bally of my youth. When I think of Bally, I think of my Dad's oxfords. I think of my Mom's classic flats, ladylike pumps, her weaved shoulder bag. Fine, I wore Bally loafers in college too. But that's because my mom said that she was only willing to pay for classic, sturdy shoes. (So yeah, no platforms or chunky heeled loafers from Office or Miss Selfridge for me! Although I did manage to buy those chunky heeled Patrick Cox loafers that were so hot at the time, I just had to use my allowance. Looking back though, darn I wasted my money on those. Mom, you are so wise!)

Then again, back in the day, Bally didn't have Brian Atwood at its helm. So just imagine how he's transformed Bally from staid and proper to what it is today - classic and refined, yet modern.

For Spring Summer 2010, he talks about the inspiration behind the collection:

‘I was inspired by the intense women of movies such as Notorious, Chinatown, The Eyes of Laura Mars, Out of Africa and American Gigolo; all very different, yet all the women had a naturally sophisticated style that was distinctly European. With this feeling in mind I took a dewy palette, of mist, blush, and powder tones, and paired it with stricter, crisper cuts, in incredibly tactile materials. Completely infused with exquisite craftsmanship, and pure quality, the products are subtly, naturally, luxurious. This is a collection to dress the modern woman, whose confidence and poise, carries a wonderful ease, whether she is traveling, working or playing.’ - Brian Atwood

I'm loving the neutral color palette of this collection - bronzy, rusty blushes, misty grey, powder pink and deepest mocha, and the smooshy leathers in suede, patent, python, nappa and silk.

Check out the accessories:

Bally Women's Bisat
Bally Women's Carna in Moka (also comes in Pale Gray, Ranch, Rust and Light Python)

Now the shoes! The shoes! Here's the star of the collection- the peep toe ankle boot, with its glove like sock;

Here in rust (also comes in grey nappa and suede)

There's also the criss-cross ankle strap sandals. Sexy! The heel height is vertiginous though! Well, it is from Brian Atwood after all.

The details on this season's bags are gorge! All that ruching, pleating and patch-working! Handles are braided with sculptural hardware closures. Functional too. This classic and streamlined triple gusset handbag has an ingenious double shoulder strap that converts to a single messenger strap. (Just like a Chanel 2.55's chain straps?)

Bally Women's Masha in Ranch (love the Rust version too!)

Bally Women's Mayla Python in Ranch

Bally Women's Melodie Python in Rust

But if you want the ultimate in luxury, go for the shoe trunk! Made of a rigid case in python, it reveals a suede interior and has room for 4 pairs of heels, 4 flats, and 6 accessory drawers! Just imagine having one in your dressing room!

Bally Women's Noray in Pearl

In the Philippines, Bally is exclusively distributed by Stores Specialists Inc. (SSI) and is located at Greenbelt 5, Rustan’s Makati, The Power Plant Mall, and Shangri-La Plaza Mall.
