Digital Fashion Week 2013: Designer Wallpaper + The Showroom Space

The day after the press launch, we went to the National Design Center at 111 Middle Road, to talk to Huib Kleinhout, Head of the Coast project at Opera Software and designer Kae Hana, one of 8 Singapore designers who created wallpapers exclusively for Coast by Opera:

From top left, clockwise: 72 Smalldive, Cosset, Kae Hana, L'ILE AUX ASHBY, ZENCHI, Mash-up, Mandy Wu, Lion Earl

But before we go to that, let me show you around The Showroom Space, where 22 Singapore fashion designers showed their latest Spring/Summer 2014 collection, which was only open to invited guests.

Here, press and select VIPs had the opportunity to meet the designers and discuss their collections.

Participating designers/brands of The Showroom Space include: 72 Smalldive, ARC, By Invite Only, Carrie K, Cosset, ERA ORA, Feist Heist, Foreword, Kae Hana, Ling Wu, Lion Earl, Mandy Wu, MASH-UP, Mystic Vintage, Noel Caleb, SUNDAYS, The Cult of Nine, Triologie, Trioon, Under Current, Yuki Mitsuyasu and Yumumu.

While at The Showroom, I had the thrill of meeting Carolyn Kan of Carrie K.

I own a couple of her designs and I just can't have enough of her work! I want her Forget Me Knot, Safety Pin, and Tough as Nails rings, which all come in variations of silver, yellow gold and rose gold. Just gorge!

I have a couple of pieces from Carrie K, each piece I love to bits, that I just had to have a photo with her and CLEO Indonesia Fashion & Beauty editor Tenny Rosyaria

found myself falling in love with this Big Star Pearl necklace (about S$500) by Yuki Mitsuyasu, donya but youthful!

Of course, it was amazing seeing how the designer wallpapers for Coast by Opera came to life seeing them as clothes, as with Kae Hana's print.

According to Huib Kleinhout,  "In Opera, we never stop seeking inspiration and ideas. We look for inspiring people through the web, and gettting inspired by the multitude of good design in the online and offline worlds."

"With the launch of a series of designer wallpapers, Coast is able to combine under-the-hood functionality with fashionable design for the perfect accessory to browse on the go, relax, or visit your favorite fashion sites. It also gives us a chance to share these beautiful designs worldwide, further enhancing Coast's distinctive aesthetic.", Huib adds.

Kae Hana, a ready-to-wear womenswear designer, is inpired by Asian prints, and says she has always been intrigued by prints and how they communicate with people.

She designs and produces her own prints and printed fabric, creating a fusion of art and style that is suitable for everyday wear, for every woman, no matter what shape or size.
